Obituary

Thomas Michael Baczkowski, age 69, of Elkton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on February 28, 2026.  Born in Elkton to the late Harry and Frances Baczkowski, Thomas was a lifelong resident known for his unwavering dedication to his community and family.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Baczkowski and his devoted daugther, Kristen Baczkowski.  He also leaves behind his brothers, Joseph (Carole) and William (Tina) Baczkowski; and sister-in-law, Linda Baczkowski, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of close friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harry Baczkowski; his sister, Barbara Baczkowski Criscuolo; and his nephew, David Baczkowski.

A man of deep faith and character, Thomas was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Elkton and a 1975 graduate of Salesianum School. His professional life included years of management at McDonald's, years as a business manager at BlackRock Inc., and most recently, time spent as a casino blackjack dealer.

Beyond his professional achievements, Thomas was defined by his generosity and his "all-in" spirit.  He was always ready to help a friend or family member in need.

An avid sports fan, he passionately cheered for the Raiders and the Broncos.  He found great joy in his hobbies, which included golf, photography, and visiting the shooting range with his friends and family. Thomas also had a lifelong love for dogs and cherished his time with his furry "buddies."

Perhaps his greatest gift was his talent in the kitchen.  Thomas loved cooking for those he cared about and was famous for his signature macaroni and cheese, smoked brisket, and BBQ.  His recipes and his skill behind the smoker will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of sitting at his table.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to close family friend Vince Latham and to Amedisys Hospice of Elkton for their professional and compassionate care during this difficult time.

A memorial mass will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church, 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to Immaculate Conception Parish Outreach 454 Bow Street, Elkton, MD 21921 or Brandywine Valley SPCA, 290 Churchmans Road, New Castle, DE 19720.
