IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phillip "Phil" Marc
Cohen
June 15, 1955 – December 21, 2025
Age 70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21.
Born June 15, 1955 in Wilmington, DE, Phil was the the third of four siblings. He graduated from Wilmington Friends School and went on to become a long time resident of South Philadelphia. Phil leaves behind a legacy of love, service, entrepreneurship, and a genuine connection with all who knew him.
A true entrepreneur at heart, Phil founded Cohen's Estate Sales, finding deep fulfillment in helping families during important transitions. His work was never just business - it was about caring for people during meaningful moments in their lives. Phil was the person who was always there to lend a hand, whether you needed help with a project, advice, or simply someone to show up.
He loved to cook for family and friends and host events where he could connect. A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, Phil cheered loudly for his beloved Eagles and Phillies through every season. Over the past 10 years he found true joy in becoming a Pop-pop. He got such joy watching them grow and spoiling them when mom and dad weren't looking.
Preceded in death by by his parents, Mildred and Herman Cohen; his brother, Arnold Cohen; and his sister, Janet Cohen; he is survived by his husband, Michael Viola; his devoted daughter, Sarah (nee Cohen) Panock and son-in-law Dan; his cherished grandsons, Ian and Hudson; his sister, Sharon Cohen and sister-in-law, Lynne Freeman; sister-in-law Pam Cohen (Arnold z''l); and countless others who were part of his chosen family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Action Wellness (www.actionwellness.org), a cause he supported, or simply to "pay it forward" with an act of kindness. May his memory be a blessing.
