Morris W. States Jr., known to many as “Billy,” passed away on April 3, 2026, at the age of 68.
Born on May 26, 1957, Billy was the beloved son of the late Morris and Sandy States. He spent his early years in New Castle, Delaware, where he enjoyed playing ball on the local fields, creating memories that would stay with him throughout his life. In time, he found his way to Millsboro, Delaware, a place he proudly called home and where he truly settled into a life he loved.
Billy served his country with honor in the Army National Guard for six years. He was a hardworking man who spent many years painting, a trade he took pride in and genuinely enjoyed. Outside of work, Billy found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, spending time at Massey’s Landing, and watching horse races, the Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles. He also enjoyed socializing with friends at AMVETS, where he could often be found sharing drinks and playing shuffleboard.
He valued good times, familiar places, and the people he shared them with. He held a special place in his heart for his dog, Fefe, who brought him great companionship over the years.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sister, Shirlann States, and his brother, Charles “Chucky” States.
He is survived by his sons, William Klosowski and Chris States, and his daughter, Dawn Katsanes; his sister, Belinda Dennis; his brothers, Robert States and Michael States; along with extended family and friends.
Billy’s ashes will be interred at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, Delaware. A date for the interment has not yet been determined.
Billy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
