Joseph Arnold
Glick
Mar 26, 1932 — Jul 3, 2026
Age 94, born March 26, 1932 in Wilmington, DE to Albert and Frances Glick. He passed away peacefully July 3, 2026 at home surrounded by family.
He was a brother to Martin Glick and Shirley Glick Feder, and husband to the late Phyllis Sklut Glick.
A native Delawarean, Joe graduated P. S. duPont High School in 1949, and the University of Delaware in 1953. He was proud to enroll at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine, graduating in 1957. After an internship in general medicine at Delaware Hospital, he began his practice as a family doctor in Brandywine Hundred.
While at UD, Joe fell in love with his one and only, Phyllis Sklut. They married in the fall of 1955 and began their family just as he began his medical practice. He was a family doctor for 20 years before transitioning to corporate healthcare as Medical Director at Atlas Chemical and subsequently as Medical Director for ICS Americas. He also served as Chief Medical Officer for Brandywine Counseling, overseeing heroin addiction treatment statewide until his retirement in 2014.
Joe was an avid Philadelphia sports fan with the Phillies holding a top spot in his heart. He and Phyllis were passionate about classical music and opera and loved attending live performances at the Philadelphia Orchestra and at the Metropolitan Opera in Manhattan. The two also enjoyed traveling in their later years. Joe's many hobbies included photography, cooking, needlework, gardening, and collecting teapots and whimsical figurines. Above all, he loved spoiling his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and wife. He will be dearly missed by his children, Andrew (Helodia), Beth Rubin (Eric), and David (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Sarah Rubin Finkel (Ben), Frances Glick Tompson (Chris), Charles Glick, Allison Rubin Swartz (Rob), Jack Glick (Lauren), and Molly Glick; his great-grandchildren, Cooper and Lottie Tompson, Morgan and Avery Swartz, and Asher Finkel. His brother, sister, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends will cherish his memory.
The family would like to thank the care teams from Home Watch and Delaware Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory can be made to Delaware Hospice, 630 Churchmans Road, Suite 200, Newark, DE 19702.
