Age 53, a loving son, brother, beloved uncle, cousin, nephew, and cherished friend, passed away September 24, 2026 of cardiovascular disease.

He is survived by his parents, Beverly and Solomon Peltz; his sister, Aimee Durkin and her husband, Mike; and his beloved nieces, Mallory, Mia, and Kate Durkin, who held a very special place in his heart.

Jake had a lifelong passion for cars. Whether racing, researching, or simply talking about cars, he loved the challenge of figuring out how things worked and spent countless hours taking cars apart and putting them back together, always determined to make them run faster. Throughout the year, he could be found participating in or volunteering at Philly SCCA autocross events. The friendships and camaraderie he found through the racing community were an important part of his life.

Jake generously shared his professional IT skills with his family, proudly serving as their unofficial, and often on-call, tech support department. He patiently rescued computers, solved mysterious software glitches, and, more than once, reminded everyone to simply reboot. His technical expertise was matched by his patience and genuine willingness to help.

Above all, Jake was a devoted family member. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his intelligence, humor, curiosity, generosity, and the many ways he shared his talents and passions with the people around him.

A graveside service for family took place on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the Jewish Community Cemetery in Wilmington, DE. Shiva will be observed 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 7 and Thursday, October 8 at Bev and Sol’s home.

Donations in Jake’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation to support vital scientific advancements in health and wellness.
