Age 86, passed away August 14, 2026.

Born February 12, 1940 in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Bernard and Vivian (nee Kershner) Bolen. Hugh was raised in Kennett Square, PA and attended Goldey-Beacom College where he met his future wife, Beverly. He graduated with a business degree from East Carolina University and returned to Wilmington to marry Beverly on June 16, 1962.

Hugh first worked at the New Castle County Airport, then he became a salesman for TRW of Philadelphia before it was sold, and then worked for IRC in Boone, NC. Hugh and Beverly moved to Montgomery, AL when their son, Joel established a home there.

Preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Vivian and son, Vance; he is survived by his wife, Beverly; sons, Louis (Julia) and Joel; and grandchildren, Vivian, Katelyn, Morgan, and Jacob.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Beth Emeth Memorial Park, 1220 Faulkland Road, Wilmington, DE 19805. Please contact Schoenberg Memorial Chapel at (302) 762-0334 for zoom information.

A memorial service will be Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Temple Beth Or in Montgomery, AL depending on the health of Beverly.

The family would like to send a huge shout out to Wright Caregiver Services. Their knowledge and rapid action gave Hugh a chance to survive, but the Lord decided that Hugh had suffered enough. The family appreciates all the prayers and hugs at this time.
