Ms. Elizabeth Travis Earle of New Castle, Delaware passed away on July 28, 2026 at Christiana Hospital and into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ms. Earle, affectionately known as Betsy, was born on October 22, 1946 and was the daughter of James Haig Earle and Mary Stewart Earle.  She grew up in New Castle, DE.

Betsy was a blessing from God to many family and friends, and supported several Christian Churches, Disabled Veterans, and Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry. She had a lifelong interest in the English Royal Family and in her own family’s Anglo-Irish genealogy.

After her high school graduation she briefly attended a Philadelphia business school, then the Philadelphia College of Art, majoring in sculpting. Some of her favorite things to do were to collect family photographs, shop at resale shops, and visit Cape May and Margate at the New Jersey shore. She enjoyed regular fellowship with friends at her all time favorite restaurant, Cosmos in Wilmington.

Betsy learned flower arranging and an appreciation for silver and pewter from her mother. She learned a love of music from her father. She enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts, and spent hours decorating for church events and making gifts for family and friends. Her love of art and perspective landed her a job at Braunstein's doing window decorating; she also worked at Chase Bank, Farmers Insurance and Cavalier Country Club for many years. Wherever life took her she made lifelong friends and was always willing to help others whenever she could.

Betsy was previously deceased by her parents, brother James Earle, sister-in-law JoAnn Sykes Earle, and nephew William Earle. Betsy is survived by her niece Elizabeth Earle, nephew James Earle, grand nieces Ashley and Elizabeth Earle, cousins Suzanne Stewart Lamb, John Stewart III, Robert Stewart, Jane Stewart DelRossi, Kathleen Stewart Gorski and Elizabeth Cramer Churchya. She was loved and will be missed by a host of close friends and neighbors.

Remembrance of life service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Schoenberg Memorial Chapel, 519 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betsy’s name may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 4210 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, Delaware, or Immanuel Church, 2414 Pennsylvania Ave., Wilmington, Delaware.
